Stormie was born and raised in Hastings and is of Ngāti Kahungunu descent with affiliations to Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Tuwharetoa and Te Atihaunui-a-Papaarangi. In 2002, she graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Māori Studies and Criminology. In 2004, she graduated with her Law Degree from the University of Auckland. Stormie was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor at the Napier High Court in 2005.
Stormie has worked as a lawyer in Auckland at Tamatekapua Law, Ngā Ture Kaitiaki ki Waikato Community Law Centre, Public Defence Service and Manukau Law. In 2009 she was appointed a Youth Advocate in Manukau and the following year she started practice as a Barrister Sole specialising in Youth Justice Law. Stormie also practices in the areas of Family Law and Criminal Law.
Stormie is a member of the South Auckland Bar Association, Criminal Bar Association, Family Law Section and Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa (The Māori Law Society). Stormie is also a speaker of Te Reo Māori.
Outside of work, Stormie enjoys keeping fit and healthy with her partner and two daughters’ and she enjoys whānau time, reading and socialising with friends and colleagues.
